My Wireless Keeps Cutting Out Or Hums

Last updated

Symptom

Your wireless drops out, hums, crackles or goes quiet during use.

Applies To

All NUX 2.4 GHz wireless systems.

Quick Fix

Re-pair the transmitter and receiver. It fixes most dropouts, hum and noise, because the system picks the cleanest channel in your current space.

Work Through These Steps

  1. Re-pair the transmitter and receiver (see Re-Pair A Wireless Transmitter And Receiver).
  2. Charge both units fully. Low batteries cause dropouts.
  3. Move the receiver away from Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth devices and other wireless gear. The 2.4 GHz band is shared with them.
  4. Keep a clear line of sight between the transmitter and receiver where you can.
  5. Using active pickups or an active preamp? Some of these guitars have a stereo (TRS) output jack that is wired differently, so the transmitter does not pick up the signal. Put a standard stereo-to-mono adapter (stereo female to mono male) between the guitar and the transmitter. The B-5RC and C-5RC owner's manuals describe this.

B-6 Pro, B-7 Pro and B-8 use Smart Frequency Hopping, which moves to a cleaner channel automatically when it detects interference.

When It Is A Fault

If dropouts continue after all of these steps, the unit may be faulty. Wireless systems are covered by the NUX limited warranty. See How The NUX Warranty Works.

Still Not Working?

Send us a Warranty Claim request from the Help Center and tell us which steps you already tried. Include your proof of purchase if you think the unit is faulty.
