MG-30 And MG-30 Gen2 Firmware And NAM Files
Applies To
MG-30 (English version) updating to Gen2 firmware. Gen2 adds 10 NAM slots in the AMP block, new overdrives, a mono octave, and new global and scene settings.
What You Need
- MG-30 Gen2 firmware for your operating system and QuickTone Gen2 (V2.6.7.16 on the official NUX site; the nux.us post lists V2.6.4.14).
- The USB-C cable and power adapter.
- 20 to 25 minutes for the update.
Important: this firmware is only for the English version MG-30. Installing it on the Mandarin version can cause a malfunction or damage. Gen2 firmware only works with the Gen2 QuickTone editor.

Steps
- Back up your user presets. The update resets all user settings.
- Unzip the firmware file. It contains the NUX Device Updater and a .bin firmware file.
- Connect the MG-30 to your computer with USB-C and plug in the power adapter.
- Hold the Down and Up footswitches while turning the power on. Release when the screen shows Device Firmware Update.
- In QuickTone, select the .bin file and click Start Update. Do not unplug anything until it finishes.
- When it finishes, close the updater, turn off the MG-30 and disconnect the cable.
Check It Worked
The first start takes longer than usual. Then perform a factory reset and recalibrate the expression pedal. A custom boot image is erased by the update and can be uploaded again. Reload your presets with the latest QuickTone; some may not be compatible.
